I have been carless in Seattle for almost 5 years, trying my best to be an advocate for mass transit. Up until the summer of ’09 I gave transit in Seattle about a 2 on a 10 scale. In July the Light Rail started running, which is exciting, but it services about 10 blocks of terrain I need to cover with any regularity. Still, the addition of a rail option raised my rating to about a 4.5. (I guess that’s also helped by the fact that I moved to one of the 2 neighborhoods for which the S.L.U.T. usable.)
Until yesterday:

Now it’s down to a 4 – saved from dropping back to a 2 only because no one was on board and there was no damage done.
