Just in from the not-so-newly online-only Seattle PI:
Booze prices to go up Saturday
Thinking of heading to the liquor store this weekend?
You might want to go Friday instead of Saturday. That’s because the cost of spirits goes up Aug. 1 following a state Liquor Control Board approved hike on the markup of liquor.

The move is expected to bring in $80 million during the next two years. It raises the markup from the current 39.2 percent to 51.9 percent. The increase will last until 2011.
It is intended to replace the $78.6 million to be removed from the Liquor Revolving Fund by lawmakers strying to deal with the state’s $9 billion budget deficit.
The increase does not apply to beer and wine products. The Liquor Revolving Fund includes revenue from sales of spirits, beer and wine liter taxes, license fees and other related revenue sources.
